What is this!? The war against PC and Mac continues. When will this ever end? Probably
never assuming both will release more program upgrades, technological styles and designs in the near future. It really depends, seriously. Some prefer using Mac, some people prefer PC and some people even prefer using both!
Although in my personal experience, using PC for the past years made it grow out on me. Not that I fully prefer it over Mac but it's just that I have been using PC for a longer time and never really got to use Mac. But I am sure it will grow out on me too
if ever I get the chance to use it. Each of them has some
pros and cons that makes them stand out from one another.
First, let me start with PC. I find it
irrelevant that most people would be like
"Oh. My. Gosh. PC sucks and change it to Mac." or even
"PC has so many viruses." One thing I'd say:
"PC has been out there longer than Mac so obviously more people would own it compared to Mac. So it's quite an obvious fact that more viruses would appear on PC due to it being out there so long ago. Besides, there are what you call Anti-Virus programs. So I think you should really think about this fact before whining on how PC gets more viruses than Mac. More PC users = More programmers/hijackers or things to deal with" PC also has been always user-friendly to its users. About this, assuming I use PC more so I don't know much about it, honestly.
On the other hand, Mac has a very sleek design compared to PC notebooks. It is lightweight which is very useful when traveling also has a wide screen display and is quicker and easier to upgrade the RAM and hard drive compared to PC. It has
"better security" compared to PC. [
Refer to the italic text on theparagraph above] Mac also has a clever
MagSafe connector which helps protect the system from damages. Although it has a very glossy and sleek design, sometimes casts glares on it under direct lighting. Also, the entry-level MacBook consistenly has been more expensive than the entry-level iBook models and low-end Windows notebooks.
Program-wise, I think both are practically the same. Assuming Mac now offers
Microsoft Office, it's easy for PC users to switch to Mac if they use these programs regularly. Although graphics wise, I personally think Mac notebooks are more upgraded than most PC notebooks. So as a person who loves making graphics like me, I'd obviously want a better graphics/digital card. But it is much harder to search for Mac-compatible programs compared to PC.
So in the end, they both have their pros and cons and I seriously think they should stop this nonsense.
But hey! It's quite entertaining watching videos on Youtube about these things. ;D

Facebook? What is Facebook? In this generation, there are a lot of social utility sites on the Internet such as
Friendster,
Myspace and obviously...
Facebook. You can do whatever you want there such as find friends that you know, post blogs and basically just to socialize with people.
When I read that article, I was confused. I mean, we
research things on the Internet. We sometimes talk on ICPs [
Internet Chat Providers] such as Windows Live Messenger or Yahoo Messenger about homework but why can't we talk about it on a social utility site such as Facebook!? I find that the university fully
over-reacted to the situation.
In my personal experience, study groups in
real life are supposed to be able to help you with
things you do not know and need assistance on. But isn't that practically the
same as talking about it on the web? I find it stupid that they think they'd be cheating. They might as well
ban normal study group plannings in libraries, etc. Assuming university student are
busy, I think it may be hard for them to plan it out to go on a library and do work?
So that's why they made a study group on the web about it? I personally do not know. But I feel that this is unjust.
Assuming that high school, university students or even people working use Facebook on a regular basis and sometimes can be improvised as their new ICP, I think that it can be really used as a tool for education. I mean, I myself check my Facebook account on a regular basis to check my wallposts, private messages and groups. Facebook has the potential to be an educational took, basically. If they implement some kind of educational section on Facebook, it can be really useful to people out there.
But that's just my opinion about this, really.

From what I've seen in the video posted,
this image was the most interesting one I found out of all the images shown. I personally think that the image has a meaning since frogs are a part of the ecosystem. Seeing the frog being peeled, it's like their skin being dried up because of global warming.
In my opinion, here is a step-by-step guide on how to achieve a similar effect to the hybrid:
- Open your canvas and search for two images you want to manipulate. In this case the person chose a frog and a peeled orange.
- Add a layer mask onto the peeled orange and mask over the frog's body. Make sure you resize and align the edges of the orange peel to the frog's body.
- De-saturate the whole image and make a new layer. To make the frog's skin orange, place the orange layer on top of the image and change the blending mode to Color
I am sorry if I am not good at explaining things. But using layer masks can give you a lot of effects for simple hybrid making.
This image is an example I quickly made throughout the tutorial.
Yes it is not a frog and it's a bit crappy but you can achieve effects like these if you use layer masks and I sometimes find the eraser tool on a 300px brush quite handy! That's all.

How about let's say
free music what would you say?
"YAY ME!" Being able to download music for free is definitely convenient. I download music practically each day of my life and I fully support it. I usually download music to see whether I should buy the CD when I have the time and money and
"support" the artists.
For me, someone who does not really listen to
"mainstream" music that much has a hard time searching for CDs of the artists/bands I like. As much as I want to do an online purchase for their album, if I can get the exact same thing
for free I would go for the free one. Also, some online purchases simply just gives you the files when you can get the same files for free using a p2p [peer to peer] program.
A good example would be downloading a popular program such as
Adobe Photoshop. In stores such as
Best Buy, I saw them being sold for
$800.00 CDN. To think about it:
- I have no job - Which means I don't think I can afford to spend $800.00 or even have that much in my hands.
- $800.00 can get me a lot of other things - I don't think I am that serious about web design and graphics. I just find it as a hobby.
- There are other important things than a program - If I can just download it for free, I will be able to obtain other things.
Now that I think about it,
How much do the actual artists receive from when their album sells? and the answer is
not much. Their record company gets more profit than they do. Besides, those recording companies are
sometimes usually unfair to the artists; especially if they are new to the music industry.
If they sue people for downloading music
"illegally", they might as well sue everyone. As far as I'm concern, a lot of people download
"illegally". Because you know...free things always bring the people coming.
